My only reservation for why this wouldn’t be picked is that it’s not on Shudder currently however films can debut on Shudder alongside their Last Drive-In debut, and in some markets, AMC has the movie on some of its apps, and AMC is the parent company behind Shudder. It also scratches some of the same itches that make for a classic The Last Drive-In feature, in that it’s a guerilla film and one that utilizes its budget well for some decent scares and effects. Pontypool is a Canadian film and one that was well-regarded and respected upon its release. Joe Bob tends to skew towards exploitation and sleaze which this film doesn’t have but there have been instances such as when he showed The Changeling, Exorcist III, or Halloween where he showed off some more higher-brow picks, and I think that could be the case this week.
